In DNS we have been really busy educating ourselves about the marine environment and marine pollution. This is a huge topic in recent years and has tied in with our Green flag. 6th class had a workshop on marine litter and made wonderful jellyfish out of plastic rubbish. The senior classes voted for a slogan and made posters depicting it which have been displayed around the school. Last year we carried out a marine litter awareness survey and displayed the results. Each class then learned more about marine pollution and ways that we can reduce the amount of plastic we use. The same survey was then carried out again this year and the results were displayed alongside last years results. It was encouraging to see the increase of awareness from year one to year two!

We are currently working on our transport flag for the Green Schools initiative. We have reinstated our Walk on Wednesday initiative and are encouraging as many pupils and staff as possible to walk to school each week.
