Fairtrade Fortnight takes place every March. Mrs. Conran took the opportunity at assembly this morning to remind us all about what Fairtrade is and that Delgany NS is a fair trade school. Some of the pupils from 6th class and Mrs Conran shared with us a little about the story of a banana – how it gets from the plantation to our supermarkets. We learned that when we buy Fairtrade bananas it means that the farmers growing the bananas get more money and this helps them to feed their families and send their children to school! Mrs Conran showed us a wonderful video about Fairtrade and even brought in bananas, coffee, tea and chocolate that she had bought that all contained the Fairtrade symbol.
