Each year in DNS voting takes place in the senior classes (3rd – 6th) and new members are elected onto the Student Council. Two children, a boy and a girl, are elected from 3rd, 4th and 5th classes while three children are elected from 6th class. Ms Gilmore oversees the work of the student council. They meet a number of times throughout the course of the year and pupils are encouraged to give the student representatives any suggestions they may have to help make our school a better place.

The Student Council also lead an assembly once during the school year and during this assembly they highlight the work of a charity of their choice. This year it was the Ronald MacDonald Foundation who are currently raising money to build a new house for the parents of sick children in the grounds of the new children’s hospital in Dublin.
