January and February were busy months in 4th class with plenty of lovely learning. In geography we were learning the counties of Ireland and the children produced some wonderful projects on a Irish town of their choice.
We were also studying the Celts in history and using clay produced Ogham stones with our names on them. We studied also how the Celts have influenced art in Ireland and really enjoyed examining the Book of Kells. We enjoyed watching the film ‘The Secret of Kells’ and read the book Treachery at Midnight by Cora Harrison which is a fictional book set at the time the Book of Kells was created.
February we moved on to looking at homes and houses compiled estate agent ads and created a timeline with our houses on it. It was very interesting to see that the majority of our houses have been built in the last twenty years.
We also took part in Friendship week creating friendship bracelets and a friendship tree. We loved the PA Valentine Cake Sale at the end of this week.
