This initiative saw a massive response across the
school from parents and guardians who have been
concerned in recent months about the ownership of
smartphones and unlimited unsupervised access to
the internet for young children. The code allows
parents to ‘opt in’ to agree to a statement that they
would delay the ownership of a personal smartphone
device for their child(ren) until they reach Secondary
School. Overall 78% of parents opted in with over
90% parents agreeing to it in the younger classes.
We hope to continue this venture with each incoming
class group. The aim is to support and enable parents
by reducing the number of children in any class who
own their own smartphone / device.
